Creating Component Categories

The Package Component Categories menu allows users to create, modify, and delete component categories. The component categories enable the user to classify and group similar package components together.

Perform the following steps to create a component category:

Navigate to Settings à Package à Component Categories.

Click Create Package Component Category.

Refer to the following table and fill in the fields:

Field

Description

Component Category Code

A unique code to represent the component category.

Up to 15 alphanumeric characters are supported.

Component Category Name

A name for the component category.

Up to 50 alphanumeric characters are supported.

List Order

The position in which the component category must appear in the Component Category drop-down list.

Active

When enabled, indicates that the component category is active.

Click Create.

Users can also perform the following actions in the Package Component Categories screen:

  • Modify a component category using the Edit icon. In the Edit Package Component Category screen, users can

  • replace the value of the Component Category Code field using the Replace icon.

  • merge two active component categories using the Merge icon. When merged, the source code is merged with the destination code and the source code is no longer available in the system.

  • Delete a component category using the Delete icon. A component category cannot be deleted when in use.

  • Copy component category details with a new component category code using the Copy icon.

  • Drag a component category to change positions within the grid using the Drag icon.

  • Search for a component category using the component category code or name.
